Established in 2005, Canne é Coeur is a non-profit non-governmental geriatric day care in Sarba, serving underprivileged elderly persons in Jounieh, Lebanon. The association provides various services including medical assistance, food distribution and hot meals, as well as entertaining activities such as educational, touristic and religious trips.

As a geriatric day care, Canne é Coeur combats elderly isolation and loneliness without completely removing them from the homes and environments they are accustomed to. Studies find that geriatric day care plays a significant role in improving elderly patient well-being and reducing signs of dementia.
Canne é Coeur association is recognized by the Lebanese government and registered at the Ministry of Interior, no. 236/2005.
Our story: How we came to be…
One hot summer night in 1993, a group of long-time friends witnessed an act of despair, as an elderly women rummaged through the dumpster in Lebanon. As former scouts with an undying passion to help others, Canne et Coeur founders were moved to action and decided at that moment to dedicate themselves to help underprivileged elderly persons get the care they deserve and need. The team quickly pulled together all available resources and went through necessary legalities to establish Canne et Coeur non-profit NGO in less than one year in order to begin serving senior citizens, valuable and wise members of society that need devoted care and attention.

Every man is entitled to his dignity.
Dignity descends from God.
Therefore, Canne é Coeur indulges at being with less fortunate elders, not only as a duty but beyond it, as fulfilling God’s calling to love and serve people around us.
This love is best seen through prayer, listening and consoling the elders through their pains and their worries, while not neglecting their daily needs, be it physical or moral, as much as possible, because we believe an elder is a source of blessing, joy and light in our community.

Foyer Canne é Coeur is a permanent gathering center for our elders. It opens daily from 8:00 am untill 2:00 pm except on Sundays.
The center serves free lunch for every senior visitor five days per week. It provides an atmosphere of bonding, love, entertainment and family spirit, where seniors gather to talk, watch a movie, read magazines, play cards and so on…
